Professional Organizer Training and Assessment
If you think you might be interested in becoming a Professional Organizer, I would be delighted to guide you through the process of getting started! Connecting with other professionals is exactly how I got started myself, and I’m happy to help and share all that I have learned over the 12 years that I have been running my business.
I take an informal approach to this training session. While I will try to cover all the basics, I ultimately let you decide what topics are most important to you. If you have a long list of questions and would prefer to focus on getting those questions answered, I can do that too. Ultimately, I am here to help you decide if this career choice is a good fit for you, and to provide you with a clear path forward if it is.

My goal is to give you a comprehensive overview of what it truly takes to build a successful professional organizing business.
Here’s a list of some of the key areas we will cover to get you off to a strong start:
- Help with deciding if this field is a good fit for your personality: We can explore the day-to-day realities of the job, the emotional intelligence required, and whether your strengths align well with the demands of professional organizing.
- Business operations, policy practices, and procedures: How to set clear boundaries, cancellation policies, payment terms, and what should be included in your client agreements to protect both you and your clients.
- The client intake process: A detailed walk-through of how to efficiently manage initial inquiries, conduct consultations, and onboard new clients. We’ll discuss effective questioning to truly understand client needs.
- Legal & financial considerations: Basic business structures (e.g., sole proprietorship vs. LLC), the importance of liability insurance, and how to approach pricing your services and invoicing.
- Confidentiality: Understanding the importance of professional ethics, maintaining client confidentiality, and handling sensitive situations with grace.
- Branding & niche identification: How to define your unique brand identity and whether specializing in a particular niche (e.g., small business organizing, digital organizing, senior downsizing) might be a good strategy for you.
- Marketing: strategies to reach your ideal clients, from online presence and social media to local networking and referral programs.
- How to obtain training and explore resources: Navigating the various educational opportunities, professional associations (like NAPO)
- Workflow management: Tips for managing your clients, and your schedule effectively. Including what 4 client intake forms I use to keep myself organized. These will give you a great head start in structuring your own client management.
