Kid-Friendly ADHD Supper: Quick Honey Glazed Chicken Tenders
Alright, let’s chat about this absolutely delicious weeknight go-to:Â Quick Honey Glazed Chicken Tenders. If you’re looking for something quick, mouth-watering, and guaranteed to make your kitchen smell amazing, you’ve landed in the right place. This meal is so simple that it requires very few executive functioning skills.Â
Picture this: you’ve had a long day, the kids are asking “What’s for dinner?”, and you just want something that’s both satisfying and fast. That’s where this recipe shines. It’s my secret weapon for turning those “ugh, what do I cook?” moments into “wow, this is incredible!” experiences.
Who doesn’t love the sweet and savory combo of honey and soy? It’s like a flavor hug for your taste buds. This meal delivers that perfect balance of sweetness and tang, all while keeping things super simple.
Why I Love These Quick Honey Glazed Chicken Tenders
First off, this meal can be made in less than 30Â minutes, max. That’s a win in my book. Plus, it uses chicken tenderloins, which cook up super quickly and stay incredibly tender. However, if you don’t have any tenderloins on hand, you can totally use chicken breasts, sliced in half.
Secondly, the ingredients are things you probably already have in your kitchen pantry. No need for a special trip to the grocery store! Just a few staples, and you’re good to go.
And finally, the glaze is sticky, glossy, and bursting with flavor. It clings to the chicken perfectly, and the lemon, soy and honey combo makes every bite a little explosion of sweet, tangy and savory goodness.
My Personal Tips for the Best Quick Honey Glazed Chicken Tenders
Okay, so I’ve made this recipe countless times, and I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way. Here’s what I do to make it extra special:
- Don’t Skip the Flour Dredge: That light coating of flour is key to getting a beautiful golden-brown crust on the chicken. It also helps the glaze cling to the chicken. I like to add more flour to the chicken by patting extra on both sides with my fingers.
- Fresh Lemon Juice is a Must: Don’t even think about using the bottled stuff! Fresh lemon juice adds a bright, zesty note that really elevates the glaze.
- Adjust the Glaze to Your Liking: If it gets too thick, just add a splash of water, like the recipe says. You want the glaze to stick to the chicken but not be so thick that is gets clumpy. Also, a glaze that is not too thick will coat your rice well and make it delicious too.
- Gentle Stirring: This is important! You want to coat the chicken with the glaze, but you don’t want to break off that delicious coating. Be gentle!
Ready to Cook? Here’s The Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 8 boneless, skinless chicken tenderloins
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 to 4 tablespoons water
Instructions:
1. Flour: Dredge each chicken tenderloin in the flour until it’s coated well.
2. Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Once it’s hot, add the chicken and cook, turning occasionally, until it’s lightly browned on both sides and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set it aside.
3. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, honey, and soy sauce. Pour this mixture into the skillet and stir well.
4. Thicken the Sauce: In another small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water. Add this mixture to the sauce in the skillet. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens. Â
5. Adjust the Consistency: If the sauce is too thick, add a little more water until it reaches your desired consistency.
6. Glaze the Chicken: Add the chicken back to the skillet and carefully coat it with the glaze.
7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with rice and your favorite Asian veggies.Â
Serving Ideas:
- Over a bed of fluffy rice: A classic and always a winner.
- Over rice or ramen noodles: A delicious alternative if you are not a fan of rice.
- With stir-fried vegetables: Add some broccoli or a steamed Asian veggie stir-fry mix as a side dish.
- In lettuce wraps: A light and refreshing option.
I hope you give this Easy Honey-Soy Glazed Chicken recipe a try. It’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that’s perfect for any night of the week. Enjoy!

About Laura
IÂ am a Southern California turned small town, Midwest Mom. I am wife to Bruce and mom to my three girls.
Back when I first started my organizing journey in 2013, I had what I thought of as a dirty little secret. I have ADHD and although I am organized, and enjoy the process of sorting, and tidying. I knew that there were many others with ADHD who really struggled with staying organized. I had a case of imposter syndrome and mostly kept the fact that I had ADHD to myself. That is until I learned that there are other successful professional organizers who have also learned to compensate for their ADHD.
I eventually realized that my need for order and simplicity actually stems from having ADHD as a way to compensate for my short attention span. So my gifts and my challenges are all ironically tied together to create who I am, and I am able to relate to and help others as a result of this coping method that I have developed for myself.
I help women and moms with ADHD, but I also help those who struggle with clutter without having ADHD. Because simplicity and less clutter are always at the heart of staying organized, there is much overlap when it comes to finding solutions to clutter and disorganization.
I am dedicated to keeping my life as simple as possible and to helping others do the same by teaching them how to declutter their homes, simplify their lives, and manage their busy families better.
